E-mail Settings to Verify
Verify that
you are connected to the Internet when
attempting to receive or send mail.
If your e-mail address is @alink.com or
cgate.net, your incoming mail server
should be mail.alink.com. Your outgoing
mail or SMTP server should be
mail.alink.com.
The "Account name" of your e-mail account
is your complete e-mail address. For
example, if your address is jdoe@alink.com,
your account name is jdoe@alink.com.
Your account name is always entered in
lower case (all small letters).
To locate these settings in Microsoft
Outlook or Outlook Express, open the
Tools menu, select Accounts, select the
Mail Tab. Highlight the account of your
choice, and select Properties. Then select
the Server tab.
To locate these settings in Eudora,
open the Tools menu and select Options.
Highlight the Sending Mail option.
For other
e-mail programs, please refer to your
program's documentation.

Cannot Send Email (SMTP 550 Error) |
To deter
spammers, AlphaLink requires you to
authenticate with a username and password
to send messages on our servers. You will
receive an error 550 in Outlook Express
and Outlook if you have not enabled
outgoing authentication. In other
e-mail clients like Netscape, Eudora,
Pegasus, Opera, etc. you'll also receive
errors when sending e-mail. You must
enable this function. The following links
take you to pages explaining how to enable
SMTP authentication in various e-mail
